Dresser-Rand New Training Center

T.W. Hicks is excited to share another great project with you which turned out beautifully. T.W. Hicks installed new provide a flooring solution for a new training center for Dresser-Rand in Houston, TX. The Dresser-Rand business, part of Siemens Power and Gas, is a leading supplier of mission-critical, high-speed rotating equipment solutions to the worldwide oil, gas, petrochemical, and process industries. The product manufacturer chosen for this project was General Polymers. The training center was new, however it was created inside the original building.  The original building had existing coatings that were showing extreme wear and abuse.  We were told that this space needed to be a showroom for all new employees that were being brought into the plant to be trained. We were thrilled to be chosen for this project. The flooring was completed with the Sherwin Williams ArmorSeal® Coating Systems and it turned out great!

The ArmorSeal® Floor Coatings will stand up to anything from light foot traffic in retail stores to facilities with heavy vehicular traffic. It is a great product to use. With 11,400 square feet of flooring plus 900 linear feet of 4” wide safety line stripes, we had our work cut out for us.

Floor Preparation

Our phenomenal TW Hicks team scrubbed and degreased the existing concrete substrate to remove any oils or other contaminates. We then mechanically prepared the existing concrete substrate to provide the proper profile. Once this was done, we could get to work!

Floor Installation

After the floor was fully prepared to receive the new flooring solution, our team began with step one: primer.  Our crew applied General Polymers 3569 epoxy primer at 300 square feet per gallon.  Once the primer cured our crew was ready for the ArmorSeal® Floor Coating. We applied the applied ArmorSeal®1000 HS finish coat. This dries rapidly to a tough, high gloss finish with excellent resistance to alkalis, abrasion, corrosion and chemical attack. Lastly walkways were made blue and work cells made gray with contrasting safety stripes to identify the walkway perimeters.  Dresser-Rand also asked us to repaint several older cranes that were installed in the training facility.  In the end the space looked awesome!

As you can see, the project turned out awesome! We are excited to add another amazing floor to our project gallery. And we were thrilled with the feedback from Dresser-Rand: “The managing staff and site crew did an excellent job. Our training center looks like a brand new building after the floors and crane were painted. I am recommending that we use your services again in the future.” We look forward to working with Dresser-Rand again!
