Transforming the Alamodome Once Again
We are thrilled to announce our latest endeavor at the iconic Alamodome, where our team has been hard at work on exciting new improvements. This project is particularly special as it marks a return to a venue we've previously worked on. Back in 2017, we completed the first concourse level, and we are honored to be back for this new phase of enhancements.
Project Overview
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Total Sq. Ft.: 97,414
Industry Type: Stadium
System: Decorative Flake
The 2024 improvements at the Alamodome are set to include 18 new luxury suites on the club level, specifically designed to accommodate the 2025 Men’s NCAA Final Four. These enhancements are part of the city's commitment to hosting this prestigious event, ensuring that the venue meets the highest standards.
Key Upgrades
Luxury Suites: 18 new suites on the club level
Fifth-Level Enhancements: Upgrades to the concession and circulation areas
Kitchen and POS Updates: Modernized kitchen equipment and point-of-sale areas
Aesthetic Improvements: New flooring, wall paint, LED monitors, signage, and sound systems in select areas
Our Flooring System
This year, we have installed a state-of-the-art flooring system that exemplifies both functionality and aesthetics. The flooring features a decorative flake design with a two-color scheme that transitions seamlessly as you move through the hallways. This not only enhances the visual appeal but also provides a durable and slip-resistant surface, ideal for high-traffic areas.
Key features of our flooring system include:
Decorative Flake Design: A stunning two-color flake design that transitions smoothly into the hallways, adding visual interest and continuity.
High Durability: The resinous flooring is built to withstand heavy foot traffic and maintain its appearance over time.
Slip Resistance: Ensuring safety for all visitors, our flooring system provides excellent slip resistance.
8-Inch Cove Base: Extending to the first grout line, the cove base adds a polished and cohesive look to the flooring.

A Continued Partnership
Our previous work at the Alamodome in 2017 laid a strong foundation for this new phase of enhancements. During that initial project, we focused on the first concourse level, installing a high-performance flooring system of over 200,000 square feet that met the rigorous demands of a high-traffic venue. After understanding our project, we went in and shot blasted and installed a flake floor system. This system is state-of-the-art, and we used this flooring because it was easy to clean, smooth, and includes medium slip resistance. It was perfect for the job at the Alamodome! Since this flooring system is polyurethane cement, it easily went on the existing stained concrete. This flooring system gave the Alamodome a new life by adding some lighter colors to it—prior to this project, the Alamodome seemed a little outdated and super dark. T.W. Hicks, Inc. used this flake floor system to pump some new life into this building! Our detailed work included:
Initial Flooring Installation: High-durability, slip-resistant flooring that has withstood years of heavy use.
Concourse Enhancements: Improved aesthetics and functionality to enhance the overall visitor experience.
Reflecting on our previous success, this year's project builds on that legacy by incorporating more advanced materials and design elements to meet the evolving needs of the Alamodome. You can explore the details of our first Alamodome project.
Looking Ahead
Construction for these latest improvements is expected to begin this fall and be completed by January 2025, just in time for the NCAA Final Four. We are excited to contribute to the Alamodome's legacy and look forward to seeing the finished results.
